4 Reasons Why I’d Go Party Rage With Ronald Weasley

As someone who grew up with the stories of Harry Potter, I enjoy imagining myself exploring all sorts of adventures with the characters. For instance, intentionally admitted myself into “quinwizard” tournament just to save Harry off the Goblet of Fire, took the adrenaline spin at “Whomping Willow Ride” with Hermione Granger in Hogwarts Amusement Park, stole some potions from Professor Snape’s room with Draco Malfoy to pick up nasty kids, played noir with Luna Lovegood in a magic book, and more.

Being a writer with overflowing ideas, my imaginary adventure with these characters does not just fade away as I age. In contrary, they grew and morphed into an adult like journeys for me.

While going parties in weekends is a norm for a young working adult like me, I came across a light bulb moment where I decided to browse through the characters outline just to get my imaginary self a partyner. Eye starred around the wiki list, from Hannah Abbott to Blaise Zabini, while hoping that someone who clicks with my personality would appear. After an exhaustively long struggle, I came with a conclusion……Ronald Weasley it is!

Ron, as we all know, is the sixth son of Arthur and Molly Weasley with ginger red hair which makes him remarkable as the supporting character in the HP series. Though the immaturity and arachnophobia you could find from his traits, I still reckon that Ron is the perfect partner, except the fact that he turned Padma Patil off for a complex yet acceptable reason in Yule Ball.

In my defense, here are four reasons why I would take Ron with me to get wasted in a party rage (apart from Fred and George, his twin brothers who’ve already known as pranksters all along).

1. Sharing is caring

As known in the Harry Potter series, Ron and his siblings were born and bred in The Burrow at the outskirts of Ottery St Catchpole in Devon, England. Compared to other wizarding families, Ronald Weasley came from a background that wasn’t wealthy at all.

Despite his family’s financial status, Ron doesn’t mind sharing his room, meals and even space with Harry, his classmate aka best friend. Unlike other pure-blood wizards who scorned over anything associated with the No-Maj’s community (Muggles), the Weasley family got over prejudice very quickly and accepted every person, regardless of your blood status, which is contrary to the magical norm.

Throughout the stories, Ron always invited Harry and Hermione to the Burrow for the summer holidays. His family did the same as well where they showed their friendly hospitality to Harry and Hermione avidly. With the welcoming trait like this, I’d like to take Ron as my no. 1 partner to parties.

The reason I’d feel safe going parties with him because I know he wouldn’t mind sharing his bed with me if I get passed out right away after a hammering night. He wouldn’t even mind sharing his drink with me if I am reluctant to buy something, but still wanted to taste a sip for fun. As I personally prefer to hang out with chill and easygoing person, this has made him the right candidate for me.

2. He shows tremendous loyalty

Well, we all know how clumsy Ron could be sometimes. In fact, he shows his humorous side throughout the entire series that actually made a lot of fans laugh, but fell in love with him at a time. He might seem a little insensitive in certain situations, overall, I still see a genuine and loyal characteristic from him.

Though he tends to be worrisome sometimes, he always sticks up for whatever he thinks is right! For instance, standing up for his friends. It’s pretty obvious that he stood up for Harry, Hermione, and his family members in most cases.

There’s a significant example from ‘The Chamber of Secret’. Malfoy humiliated Hermione by calling her “filthy little Mudblood” during an argument. Out of rage, Ron cast a slug-vomiting spell and wanted to curse him, but the spell backfired and Ron vomited slugs instead.

There goes a saying “flaunting your flaws as a way to show your loyalty”- it’s best to describe Ron Weasley as a whole. In ‘The Deathly Hallows’, he left Harry and Hermione out of jealousy and inferiority, but he returned to them later at the right time by destroying Salazar Slytherin’s locket which was known as one of the seven Horcruxes.

“He must have known I’d want to leave you.”

“No, he must have known you would always want to come back.”

Had enough evidence of his loyalty? If you’re convinced, you should understand why I’d like him with me in a party. Apart from getting a fun player, we need someone who’s responsible enough to take good care of us when we’re hammered. Let’s get real. Who doesn’t want to hang out with a loyal person? Who knows what others might do to you when you are totally wasted in midnight.

3. Bravery for Gryffindor is a legit thing

As be known to all, the traits of Gryffindor house are bravery, nerve, athletic, courage, chivalry, and daring. To sum it up, those who get sorted into the house grow their guts really well than others.

If you’re into parties and fun, we all need that brave person to hang out with us as they don’t mind trying new things while ‘yolo-ing’ to the fullest. It’s a simple explanation, but essential at a time. No one wants a boring person to bring the whole party down just because they can’t let go of themselves right?

In that case, Ronald Weasley won my heart as he got over his fear in most time just to go for adventures with Harry Potter. For instance, he was unwilling but still reluctantly followed the spiders with Harry to Aragog in the story of ‘The Chamber of Secret’. You might think it’s not a big deal to tail spiders along the way, but he has arachnophobia as mentioned, and he still did that for Harry. That won my utmost admiration.

Why spiders? Why couldn’t it be “follow the butterflies?”

Another remarkable scene of his bravery was appeared in ‘The Philosopher Stone’ (Through The Trapdoor). The three best friends had to win the chess game before confronting Quirrell (They thought it was Snape back then). As a chess savvy, Ron sacrificed himself in order to let Harry checkmate the King. My interest in Ron increased as it takes vast courage from someone to get beaten by a giant chessman in a close distance.

It’s the only way… I’ve got to be taken.

4. Less drama with a transparent man like him

As someone with 5 older brothers and 1 younger sister in his family, Ron grew up with fears in him; Fear of not comparable to his brothers, fear of rejection by Hermione, and fear of being negligible.

Apparently, his brought up environment has somehow turned him into a realistic but kind-hearted character at a time. While being assertive, blunt, and insensitive occasionally could make you seem bad a little, I still admire him as much as other fans do.

Ron, ever since the very first significant train scene in both book and film, has been so clearly portrayed himself as a goofy and friendly character at a time. Though he likes complaining a lot and gets grumpy easily, he doesn’t fake his own thought or emotion just to please others, even it’s necessary- he speaks his mind!

As going out parties means going all out to get hammered, I’d take a harmless eccentric lad like him with me simply because he’s entertaining, and most importantly, we don’t have to hide our mind from each other, but to be honest on how we feel about each other. That said, I’m free from mind-game when I spend my fun time with him. Isn’t that a bonus?

Before anyone accuses me of bringing a bad influence on such an innocent teenager, let me clarify it: I WILL ONLY TAKE RON WEASLEY OUT FOR DRINKS WHEN HE’S LEGAL!

As different people have a different perspective towards someone, I personally smile over every single line about Ron, regardless of books or films.

To sum it up, Ronald Weasley has won an everlasting acclamation in me, and he will always be.
